Phase 3: Launching the Program

Building a Successful Dual-Language Program from Day One

Once the school principal is on board, you and your group must focus on ensuring enough families enroll their children in the program to make it viable.

  • Organize school tours and give presentations at events to boost enrollment
  • Continue promoting the program through various channels
  • Host regular parent information meetings
  • Invite parents and teachers from existing dual-language programs to share insights

Support for the school principal can include:

  • Securing essential teaching materials for the first few months
  • Sharing best practices gathered from other programs and site visits
  • Researching curriculum-aligned books and preparing purchase lists

Assisting in the recruitment process may also be necessary—especially in identifying qualified bilingual teachers and teaching assistants. This might include translating, interpreting during interviews, or providing feedback on language proficiency.

Your fundraising committee can contribute by:

  • Organizing events and donation drives to support classrooms and school facilities
  • Bringing in dual-language consultants to train staff and assist with materials
  • Writing grant proposals to seek funding from public agencies and international partners
